Machel appears on Flow Sport / Willow TV commentating on Netherlands vs West Indies

Most of you will know that Machel self-funded a Caribbean Cricket Podcast tour of the Netherlands covering every part of the West Indies three ODIs.

The tour was a huge success with CCP being commended by many fans and stakeholders in the game about the quality of the content produced across all social media platforms.

Even more significant than that however was Machel being invited on to TV to cover 10 overs of the final ODI.

This was Machel's first appearance in such a capacity and if we can say so ourselves he smashed it out of the park.

Caribbean Cricket Podcast joins in with Chance to Shine street cricket

On April 20th Machel ventured to South West London to represent the Caribbean Cricket Podcast in the 'Battle of the Podcasts' hosted by the cricket charity Chance to Shine.

The event was great fun and saw Machel continue to stake his claim for West Indies selection with some smart batting and running between the wickets!

Jokes aside the event was a fascinating insight to the work Chance to Shine are doing to to give all children the opportunity to play, learn and develop through cricket.

The Chance to Shine street project brings cricket to thousands of young people in urban areas. It uses the game to increase aspiration, promote social cohesion and create opportunities in diverse communities.

It's a fast-paced version of the game played with a tapeball - a tennis ball wrapped in electrical tape - in small enclosed spaces. With six players per team and 20 balls per innings, it's cricket's answer to five-a-side football.

 Chance to Shine Street is a counter for a lack of accessible clubs and green spaces in inner-city areas and aims to make cricket accessible to young people throughout the country.

Street cricket offers a different way into the sport, with 74% of players not part of a traditional cricket club when they joined the sessions.

It was a humbling experience to participate with so many young people and some of the talent on show was unreal. 

The work Chance to Shine are doing is crucial to growing the game in this country and providing access points for young people who otherwise wouldnt see the game.
